


(re)Chicago
Chicago is recognized around the world for its vital contributions to the development of House music. With the combined talents of veteran DJs Mazi and Kate Simko, and promoter Nadia Podolsky from VOLATL, Chicago has re-asserted itself within this community through a unique, collaborative event dubbed (re)Chicago, which launched at the legendary “Red Dog” night in April of 2010. (re)Chicago is now a monthly showcase that takes place at some of Chicago’s most unique gallery, loft, and nightclub venues. Past guests include Adultnapper, Brothers’ Vibe, Cassy, Chez Damier, Doc Martin, DJ Three, and Jus-Ed.
D3 (Chicago)
To celebrate and strengthen the longstanding connection between Chicago nightlife and the world-renowned Detroit techno and house music scenes, the D3 event series celebrates the innovators of Detroit techno. D3 (Discover Deconstruct Detroit) is not only a fusion of house and techno but a meeting of art, fashion, and music. Starting in 2010, DJ Lady D and D’lectable Music, along with VOLATL Events, partnered with contemporary artist collectives like Artkiwon and praksis to bring a decidedly unique artistry to the showcases. Live painting, live fashion, and art installations within the club environment totally transformed Chicago's most famous underground music venue, Smart Bar. Past D3 headliners include Stacey Pullen, Monty Luke, Juan Atkins, and Grammy-nominated composer and world-class DJ Carl Craig.
Superfreq (Chicago)
Superfreq is a club night specializing in underground club music, initially organized by Mr. C in 2002, at his infamous End Club in London. Since its inception, Superfreq has had residencies in Ibiza, Los Angeles, and numerous locations around the globe. VOLATL has hosted several events in the spirit of this glamorous and legendary club night, helping launch the brand in Chicago. Mr. C. headlined the first two editions of Superfreq in Chicago. Other guests have included Chicago’s own Mazi and Wagon Repair artist Xo-Chic of Dollz at Play. These events have taken place at both under and overground venues in different areas of the city. Upcoming installations of Superfreq Chicago are slated to take place throughout 2012.
Happy Volidays (Chicago)
VOLATL Events continues to present its successful Happy Volidays holiday event each year at different clubs, bars, and lounges around Chicago. Depending on the venue, past events have hosted as many as five hundred attendees. Past guests of the VOLATL holiday events include Exercise One, Mikael Stavöstrand, and Shaun Reeves.
The Other 9 to 5 (Detroit)
The Other 9 to 5 is an annual event that takes place in Detroit during the weekend of Movement, Detroit’s electronic music festival. Designed to stand out from the typical after-Movement event choices, The Other 9 to 5 series always showcases an impressive performer roster, including internationally prominent techno artists making exclusive Detroit appearances. The events showcase at least seven hours of DJ sets by both veteran and rising talent from around the world, including VOLATL residents. Patrons enjoy decadent audio experiences at unique Detroit venues close to Hart Plaza, the location of the Movement festival. Past showcases have featured artists from the Hello?Repeat and Clink Recordings label rosters, as well as other prominent international guests. Artists include Camea, Tim Xavier, Alexi Delano, Mark Henning, Tony Rohr, Insideout, Elon, Bruno Pronsato, Daze Maxim, K.atou, Mayaan Nidam (Miss Fitz), Adultnapper, Kate Simko, [a]pendics Shuffle, and more.
Better Than a Box of Heart-Shaped Chocolates (Detroit)
VOLATL Events presents the Better Than a Box of Heart-Shaped Chocolates events in Detroit annually during Valentine’s Day weekend. Strengthening the long-standing connection between the Detroit and Chicago techno and house scenes, the artist rosters feature the finest Midwest talent and international guest headliners. Held in historic Detroit nightlife venues, these events draw hundreds of attendees, helping to stimulate the struggling Detroit economy and support the city’s electronic-music culture. Past guests have included Marcin Czubala, Elon, Connie, Camea, and Sweet n Candy.
